Join us at the 2024 Tire Society Meeting!

Tire of a car driving on road

We are thrilled to invite you to a fascinating presentation at the 2024 Tire Society Meeting, hosted at the University of Akron from September 11–13, 2024.

  • Topic: Wheel Slips Explained by Aristotle’s Circle
  • Presenter: Dr. Yi Li, Research Scientist at GCAPS
  • Date: Thursday, September 12, 2024 (Day 2)
  • Time: 9:25 a.m.
  • Location: Jean Hower Taber Student Union Ballroom, The University of Akron, Akron, Ohio, USA

Dr. Yi Li will explore the intriguing Aristotle’s wheel paradox—a concept that has puzzled many by demonstrating how two disks with different radii can roll the same distance in the same amount of time. This presentation will delve into the potential insights derived from this paradox to better understand the various global slips exhibited by deformable rolling bodies, such as tires.

Dr. Li’s research introduces a unified and rigorous geometric framework for analyzing longitudinal, lateral, and spin slips, including turn-slip and camber slip. The presentation will also offer a fresh perspective on examining combined slips. The ultimate goal is to refine and generalize wheel slip definitions, providing a solid foundation to address inconsistencies across tire modeling and testing.

This session aligns perfectly with the 2024 conference theme: Beyond the Surface – Models, Materials, and Manufacturing.

  • Innovative Research: Discover new approaches to wheel-slips(kinematics) analysis.”
  • Expert Insight: Learn from a leading scientist in the field
  • Industry Relevance: Gain practical knowledge that can enhance both modeling and testing in tire science.

Don’t miss this opportunity to deepen your understanding of tire mechanics and network with industry professionals.

We look forward to seeing you on September 12th in Akron!
